Volunteering
Our Volunteers
Much of the work we do is only possible with volunteers — caring for donkeys, supporting walks, and helping our community programmes run.
Yak and Tak
Our Yak and Tak volunteers love nothing more than chatting and cleaning tack. They provide invaluable help to Snowdonia Donkeys, such as organising fund-raising events and tidying away after both people and donkeys.
“Tuesdays with the donkeys are the highlight of my week. I don’t have a lot of energy but I try hard to conserve enough to make sure I can join in. It’s not just about the donkeys though, it’s wonderful to have met such a fantastic group of people and to be able to call them my friends.”
Bangor Donkey Project
Volunteers from nearby Bangor University join us on the weekly donkey walk. These routine walks are important to keep the donkeys healthy and build confidence with new people.
“Visiting the donkeys gives me time away from my university work. It stops me from being overwhelmed with work, and have a clear head when I carry on afterwards.”

How to volunteer
Volunteering suits people who enjoy outdoor work, animal care, and welcoming visitors — from students to local residents. Roles include yard and field care, tack cleaning, helping on donkey walks, fundraising, and supporting wellbeing sessions.
